Meet the Coaching Team
Tip for Success: Be your own biggest cheerleader and celebrate your wins, big or small!
Hi! My name is Paulina, a third-year MISA and Economics student, born and raised in Ghana, West Africa. I moved to Halifax to pursue a degree in Commerce at Saint Mary’s because of the wonderful Commerce program offered here in the Sobey School of Business. In my downtime, I love to explore the streets of Halifax with music in my ears. Other than that, I enjoy reading a good book in a calm and soothing environment. I cannot wait to meet and help you on your journey to success.
Tip for Success: Start from the basics and don't overthink things. A lot of things are easier than they seem.
Hi everyone, my name is Hailey, I am a fourth-year psychology student, born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In my downtime, I love thrifting, painting, reading and I am always listening to music! I am also fascinated by true crime, always diving into it in my free time and I am doing the forensic psychology certificate. I can’t wait to meet all of you and support you with whatever you may need!
Tip for Success: Make sure to take care of yourself! The only way to be the best version of yourself is to make time for yourself first
Hello, I’m Lyra! I’m a fourth-year Science student with a major in Environmental Science. I’m from a small town in northern British Columbia, but I now have a second home in Halifax. I enjoy being outdoors, especially in the mountains, and I love exploring new places. When I’m not working or studying, I enjoy reading science fiction and fantasy novels, writing short stories, and designing cosplays for my favorite characters. You can often find me enjoying a chai latte at my favourite coffee shop or rock climbing at the gym. I can’t wait to meet you all!
Tip for Success: Learn about the on-campus supports available to you and the people who can help you access them!
Hi, everyone! My name is Naomi; I am a third-year Arts Psychology student with a minor in Criminology. I am originally from Nigeria, but Halifax is now home. I love spending most of my free time alone, watching movies (either romance, comedy, or psychological). My favorite psychological movie is A Monster Calls. Additionally, I love colouring, reading, acting, dancing, spending time with family/friends, and learning languages. I am currently trying to learn French. I love meeting new people, and I’m excited to get to know you all! What you can expect from me is good vibes, tons of support, and an open book when it comes to all things university.
Tip for Success: Ask for help as soon as you realize you’re struggling, prioritize sleep, and meet your Academic Advisors early.
Hey there, I'm Carlos! I’m a third-year student studying Astrophysics (Science). I was born in the UK, but because of my parents' jobs, I had to move from country to country until we finally settled in Canada. I listen to music pretty much daily. I also love video games and play them as often as I can. In my spare time, I enjoy hanging out with friends, going to the gym, and reading space non-fiction books. I hope to form meaningful connections and friendships and exchange stories with everyone!
Tip for Success: In university, it's all about your mindset. Don’t let yourself get dragged down by your thoughts. Believe in your capabilities and you’ll go far for sure!
Hi everyone, I’m Sarah! I am a second year Graduate Student in the Master of Applied Health Services Program. Although I am originally from Ottawa, I have been living in Atlantic Canada for the past six years and consider it my home! I played five years of university soccer and just played my last year here at SMU. When I am not doing schoolwork or spending time on the soccer field, I love watching movies! My favourite movies to watch are directed by Quentin Tarantino. I am looking forward to meeting you all!
Tip for Success: Fear of failure doesn’t prevent failure—it prevents growth! In university, your ability to take academic risks, ask questions, and try new approaches is often what leads to real learning.
